SONGS FOR THE PEOPLE is a night of deep listening and connection. Hosted and curated by Sariyah Idan it includes 4 artists performing original songs/poems in the round allowing the artists to be inspired and affected by each other through the course of the night. The event benefits a different community organization each month. $10-20 at the door.
BENEFITTING: Neutral Ground Coffee House, a place to gather together and hear music, to converse, and to drink coffee. A place for musicians to hone their craft, or to return home. It’s a community space, part gallery, part stage: all-inclusive, and for all-ages.
GIULIA COBA makes music her home. The Brazilian vocalist and guitarist was born and raised in São Paulo and has spent the past seven years living in New Orleans working as a teaching artist. Her compositions are a journey of self-discovery that shines light on the inner child, the essence of her music. She Carries a vast repertoire of Brazilian styles, with storytelling that is both playful and deeply personal.
MATT WILSON has spent his life playing piano and singing. After falling in love with the music of New Orleans, he decided to make New Orleans his home. He released an EP of 4 songs in 2025 called Tipitina Patina, an ode to his love for the New Orleans piano style. He is a full-time musician and plays at various venues around the city, including venues on Frenchmen Street and Bourbon St.
J.MIX is a vocalist from New Orleans, LA. A Loyola graduate with 20+ years in arts & entertainment, her performance consists of just her voice, a loop station, & the desire to build something from nothing in real time. Her debut album “Cycle Breaker” is a DIY project tracing the origins of her mental health journey through the messiness of healing.
SARIYAH IDAN (curator/performer/host) known among New Orleans locals and tourists as “the most hauntingly beautiful voice of the French Quarter streets”, Sariyah is a captivating performer, multi-instrumentalist, bandleader, and community organizer. A gifted poetic songwriter bridging many genres in both her compositions and selections she uniquely interprets. Her songs address issues of love, social justice, and healing.
